about us
At K9 Retreat and Spa Findlay, we do things a little different around here. First, we treat every dog as if it were our dog. Dogs are fed per their owner’s instructions, pottied at least four times a day, and have access to a patio weather permitting. But then we go the extra mile and provide daily brush outs, massages and lots of treats. We know that being in a kennel in stressful for dogs, as it changes their whole environment. So, we do our best to make sure that each and every dog has a good experience when they stay with us. In addition, we provide a calm atmosphere for them to stay in using colors, music, salt lamps and incense.
All dogs are provided with their own blankies, washed and dried using an EdenPure system in top of the line, water saving LG washers and dryers purchased locally at Bindle’s Appliance. Rooms and play yards are cleaned on a rotating basis using cleaners specifically designed for use by vets, zoos and kennels. At K9 Retreat and Spa Findlay, you can rest assured that we will become your dogs home away from home.
About Me
Hi! My name is Kym Soderholm, and I am the guardian at K9 Retreat and Spa Findlay.
Not originally from Findlay, I moved here in January 2017 because my husband passed away and I wanted to be closer to family. I found Findlay and the kennel property by accident, and it spoke to my heart. So I picked up my son and moved to Findlay. I am proud to say I am a Findlayite!
Owning and running a kennel has special meaning behind it. I want to change the meaning behind being treated like a dog. Dogs should be part of our family, not something that can be sold or given away lightly. I believe if we all band together and change this, we will create a positive movement in our society where there is a sense of mutual respect and love for all living things. Working the grounds, being able to be of service to those who need me, and passing energy through Reiki with my guests, gives us all healing, rest and relaxation.
As part of what I see as my responsibility, not just to my clients and their four legged family members, but also to our earth, our city and ourselves, I look forward to encompassing philanthropy through the use of the whole kennel grounds by creating things like a healing garden for veterans and orchards that will fund a grant for special medical needs for pets. I would love to be instrumental in the creation of a low cost spay/neuter clinic in Hancock County. Already things have started to fall into place with the creation of a Training Center for Pawsible Angels.
Below is a list of causes I support:
Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary
I want to help you support your causes too, so stay tuned to our Facebook page for events like cookie receipe competitions, where the proceeds will benefit the winner’s charity of choice.
